Adventure Pediatric Therapy is happy to support students who are exploring careers in occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech-language pathology, and other pediatric-related fields.
We offer both observation (shadowing) and volunteer opportunities, depending on student interests, clinic availability, and current needs.
Whether you're just beginning to explore pediatric therapy or are already pursuing a career in the field, spending time in a pediatric therapy clinic can be a valuable way to learn about the profession and what it looks like to support children and families.
Observation (Shadowing):
Best for students who want to learn what pediatric therapy is really like.
Observation opportunities allow students to spend time in our clinic and observe therapy sessions and the day-to-day environment of a pediatric therapy clinic.
Students may have the opportunity to observe:
Therapy sessions and intervention strategies
How therapists build relationships with children and families
Collaboration between therapists and other members of the care team
How therapists adapt activities to meet each child's individual needs
The everyday flow of a pediatric therapy clinic
Observation is primarily a learning experience. Students will observe rather than provide hands-on therapy or work directly with clients.
Observation opportunities are limited to a maximum of 10 total hours per student. Students are responsible for keeping track of their observation hours.
Volunteering:
Best for students who want to gain experience in a pediatric clinic environment while helping our team.
Volunteers support our clinic through non-clinical administrative and operational tasks that help keep Adventure Pediatric Therapy running smoothly.
Volunteer activities may include:
Helping clean and organize the sensory gym
Organizing and preparing therapy materials
Assisting with clinic organization
Copying and preparing parent resources
Helping with general clinic projects
Other tasks that support our therapists and clinic team
Volunteer hours are more flexible and may vary depending on clinic needs and available opportunities.
Volunteering does not involve providing therapy or independently working with clients.
A note about our approach
At Adventure Pediatric Therapy, we believe therapy should be a place where children can feel safe, supported, respected, and understood.
Our neuroaffirming approach extends beyond the therapy session. It is part of the entire experience of being at our clinic—including the way our therapists, staff, volunteers, and students interact with the children and families we serve.
What We Expect From Our Students & Volunteers
Because we work with children and families, professionalism, confidentiality, and respect are extremely important to us.
Students and volunteers are expected to:
Maintain client confidentiality and privacy
Follow all clinic policies and procedures
Interact with children, families, and staff respectfully
Follow our neuroaffirming and child-centered approach
Dress appropriately for an active pediatric therapy environment
Arrive on time and communicate appropriately about scheduling
Follow staff direction and ask questions when unsure
Our goal is for students to leave their time at Adventure Pediatric Therapy with a better understanding of pediatric therapy, a meaningful learning experience, and a positive impression of what it means to support children in a respectful, affirming environment.
